The main objective of this workshop is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to design, conduct and interpret qualitative research. The course is very much weighted to practical sessions and participants will have the opportunity to present their qualitative research plans, practice interviewing and observation skills, facilitate focus groups, and analyze data.

The course shall include but not limited to:

• Sampling in Qualitative Research
• Effective Focus Groups
• Thematic and Content Data Analysis
• Ethics in Qualitative Research, Conversation Analysis and
• The Quality of Qualitative Research

LEARNING OUTCOME
• Understand different methodological approaches to qualitative research
• Understand the key issues around recruitment and sampling in qualitative research
Developed skills to write an interview schedule
• Practical experience of conducting in-depth interviews, ethnographic observation, and organizing and running focus groups
• Be able to discuss some of the ethical issues associated with conducting qualitative research
• Developed skills to analyze qualitative data using a thematic approach and content analysis
• Be aware of other approaches to analysis
• Be able to appraise the quality of qualitative research

History of CBE

The COLLEGE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION (CBE) was established in 1965 by the Act of the Parliament. COLLEGE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION Act No. 31 of 1965. His Excellency, J.K. Nyerere, the first President of the United Republic of Tanzania officially opened the new College in January 1965. The College was officially named the “College of Business Education” (CBE). The said Act of Parliament gives the College its legal status as an autonomous institution with its Governing Body. The College shall be governed and administered in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
