The College of Business Education (CBE) is looking for ONE qualified applicant who will
be engaged as Estates Officer for a period of 6 months. The primary purpose of this
position is to assist in plans, building, maintenance, and rehabilitation activities related to
physical infrastructure in the College. The qualified candidate will be supervised by Senior
Estates Officer.
Job Description
i) To prepare and update Preventive Maintenance Plan;
ii) To coordinate issues pertaining to development projects such as new
construction works;
iii) To ensure that cleanliness of surrounding is properly administered and
infrastructure is well maintained;
iv) To liaise with utilities Authorities on matters related to water supply, sanitation
and electricity;
v) To ensure that compliance with healthy and safety regulations is maintained;
vi) To provide advice on construction related matters;
vii) To ensure that safety of infrastructure such as fire protection, insurance of
College infrastructure is maintained;
viii) To examine bills of quantities;
ix) To prepare work schedules;
x) To handle issues related to land ownership and its associated bills;
xi) To make sure that fixed assets register is updated accordingly;
xii) To assist in identifying worn out assets ready for disposal;
xiii) To supervise fumigation exercise within College compound; and
xiv) Perform any other relevant duties assigned by supervisor.Page 2 of 2
Holder of a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture from recognized
institution. The candidate must also have computer literacy skills.

(c) Team player who can work independently.
Duration of Engagement
The successful applicant will be hired for a period of 6 months. The start date is
immediately. The position is located in Dar es Salaam.

History of CBE

The COLLEGE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION (CBE) was established in 1965 by the Act of the Parliament. COLLEGE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION Act No. 31 of 1965. His Excellency, J.K. Nyerere, the first President of the United Republic of Tanzania officially opened the new College in January 1965. The College was officially named the “College of Business Education” (CBE). The said Act of Parliament gives the College its legal status as an autonomous institution with its Governing Body. The College shall be governed and administered in accordance with the provisions of this Act.


The origin of the College of Business Education (CBE) is closely linked to the history of the Nation itself.
