CBE GENDER DAY 2024

The College of Business Education (CBE) has held celebrations for the women's forum and gender day. This event took place at the CBE Dar es Salaam campus and was organized by the student government leadership under the Ministry of Gender and Disability. The event was graced by the guest of honor, Ms. Mwajuma Hamza, who is the Executive Director of the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce, alongside the college management, facilitators from UDSM, Gofen, and Aghakhan, staff from the college, student government officials, and the students of the college.

Leading the event was Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, the esteemed Rector of CBE. With warmth and grace, she welcomed the guest of honor, Ms. Mwajuma Hamza, Executive Director of the Tanzania Women's Chamber of Commerce, and all the attendees. Prof. Lwoga set the tone for the day, emphasizing the importance of promoting justice and equality for all genders.

Prof. Lwoga shared inspiring real-life examples of female leaders who are in top positions within the college's leadership management, showcasing the progress made in achieving gender equality. She passionately stressed the significance of gender policies and equal opportunities, stating that “as an educational institution it is our duty to ensure that we create an environment that supports gender equality and provides equal opportunities for all our students”.

Ms. Mwajuma Hamza took the stage next, radiating confidence and determination. She applauded CBE for its proactive approach to implementing a gender policy that has been active for the past three years. With conviction in her voice, she urged women to stand up for their rights and emphasized the importance of mental health awareness.

She stated “It is crucial to understand the policies and laws that protect us," Ms. Hamza proclaimed, her words echoing across the eager audience. "We must take action to defend ourselves against abuse and discrimination."

As the discussions unfolded, facilitators from prestigious institutions like the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Gofen, and Aghakhan shared valuable insights and advice. Their passion for creating positive change in society and the business sector was palpable, igniting a sense of empowerment among the attendees.

Amidst the exchange of ideas and shared experiences, a spirit of unity and determination filled the air. Students and faculty alike were inspired to continue championing equality and justice, both within the college walls and beyond.
