CBE 60th ANNIVERSARY: A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE AND IMPACT

As the College of Business Education (CBE) celebrates its 60th anniversary, it reflects on six decades of unwavering commitment to academic excellence, research, and national development. Established in 1964, CBE has grown from its humble beginnings into one of Tanzania's premier institutions of higher learning, recognized for its significant contributions to the business and economic sectors.

Recognizing Government's Acknowledgment

On July 3, 2024, during the official launch of the 60th-anniversary celebrations at the Dar es Salaam main campus, the government acknowledged CBE's vital role in fostering economic growth. Dr. Hashil T. Abdallah, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, praised CBE for its contribution to the national economy through the training and development of skilled professionals. "The education provided by CBE has been instrumental in strengthening our economy, with graduates actively contributing to the growth of industries and trade—key sectors in our nation's economic development," said Dr. Abdallah.

He further assured Prof. Wineaster Anderson, Chairperson of the CBE Board, and the college's leadership that the ministry would continue to support CBE in achieving its goals with excellence and timeliness.

CBE's Leadership and Vision

Prof. Wineaster Anderson expressed her gratitude to the government for entrusting her with the leadership of the Board over the past three years. She highlighted the college's adherence to regulations and standards, noting the continued discipline and professionalism among students, staff, and management. "The college has progressed well, with the Board effectively overseeing the institution's operations in line with national and institutional guidelines," said Prof. Anderson.

Academic Expansion and Vision 2074

CBE has seen remarkable growth since its inception, expanding from a single program to over 22 diverse academic offerings by 2024. These include Business, Accounting, Marketing, Procurement and Supply, ICT, and more. Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, the Rector of CBE, introduced the college's ambitious "CBE Vision 2074," a 50-year roadmap focusing on sustainable development through new technologies and in-depth research.
