PARTICIPATION OF STUDENTS IN INCUBATION AND CAREER DAY EVENT

The Directorate of Students’ Services, in collaboration with the Incubation and Apprenticeship Section, organized the Incubation and Career Day event on 19th April 2024 at Dar es salaam campus. The theme of the event was "Empowering Success Beyond the Classroom."

The aim of the Incubation and Career Day event was to provide a platform for students to transform classroom-acquired skills into real-world applications, showcase entrepreneurial products, and interact with successful experts in their fields of specialization. Additionally, the event aimed to provide networking opportunities, foster innovation, and offer mentorship to help students navigate their career paths and entrepreneurial ventures.

The guest of honor was Mr. Edward Talawa, the CEO of FINCA Microfinance Bank. He highly praised the management of the College of Business Education for organizing the event and initiating apprenticeship and incubation programs. He expressed confidence that these programs will help students apply classroom education to real-world scenarios and actualize their business ideas, thereby addressing the employment challenge in the country. He also commended the college for instituting the Students' Guidance and Counseling Policy, whose implementation will demonstrate how education can be aligned with job market needs, enabling students to make well-informed decisions through strong collaboration among various stakeholders.

In her address, the Rector of the College of Business Education, Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, informed the audience about the college’s intention to prioritize practical education, moving beyond traditional knowledge-based education. This is the essence behind the introduction of the apprenticeship program, where students will spend half of their schooling time at the college and the other half as apprentices in various organizations, and the incubation of business ideas, where students will be linked with experts to nurture their business concepts.

The event attracted various stakeholders from different industries, including banking, agriculture, and human resources.
