TRAINING ON IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW STUDENTS DISCIPLINARY RULES 2024

During the period under review, the Directorate of Student Services organized a training session on implementing the new Students' Disciplinary Rules 2024. The training took place from the 13^th   to the 15^th  of 2024, and key members from the Directorate of Student Services and the Directorate of Director of Academic Support Services attended from all campuses. This training was crucial due to changes in handling student disciplinary matters following the gazetting of the new rules. Advocate Ambokile Mwakaje, the Head of the Legal Service Unit, facilitated the training.

Among others, the training covered the following major areas.

• Disciplinary Authorities/Committees
• Disciplinary offences
• Drafting of disciplinary notices, charges and penalty letters
• Disciplinary procedures
• Punishment/Decision, and
• Right of Appeal & the Finality Clause

Seminar on Communicable Diseases

The Directorate of Student Services at Dar es salaam campus organized a seminar on communicable diseases at Dar es salaam campus. The seminar was held on 8^th June 2024, and attended by 212 students. The seminar aimed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge regarding the cause, transmission and prevention/treatment of communicable diseases.

Ms. Rehema Mzungu, the Coordinator of Health in Schools at Dar es Salaam City Council facilitated the seminar. Among others, the seminar focused on the following subject matters:

• The meaning of communicable diseases
• Causes of communicable diseases.

• Transmission of communicable diseases
• Prevention/treatment of communicable diseases.
• Importance of early detection and treatment of communicable diseases.
• Strategies for mitigating the spread of communicable
• The need to complete a dose when affected with communicable diseases to avoid the diseases to turn chronic.
