During the period under review, the Directorate of Students’ Services at Mwanza Campus organized a sensitization seminar for new students. The seminar was held on 11th October 2024 and facilitated by Mr. Justine Urio, Dean of Students at Mwanza Campus. It focused on the essential aspects of the Students’ Disciplinary Rules, 2024, covering key areas such as disciplinary offences, correspondence out of college, penalties, dress code violations, and accommodation violations.
Disciplinary Offences- students were informed that any violation could lead to serious consequences, including suspension or dismissal from the college. The Dean encouraged students to familiarize themselves with the rules to avoid unintentional breaches and to uphold the college's standards of conduct.
Dress Code Violations -The dean of students highlighted that students are prohibited from wearing jeans with holes, see-through clothing, overly tight garments, and any attire that exposes the stomach, waist, or back. Additionally, male students are prohibited from wearing earrings, and clothing with inappropriate graphics or slogans is strictly forbidden.
Correspondences- The Dean also stressed that all official correspondence concerning student interests must be routed through the Dean’s office, ensuring that communication remains clear and organized. This process is vital for maintaining transparency and accountability within the college community.
Accommodation Violations- The Dean also discussed accommodation rules, emphasizing that students must adhere to specific guidelines while residing in college hostels. Violations include subletting rooms, illegally living in hostels, and using hostel premises for social events without prior permission.
Penalties for Violations—The Dean explained that the Students’ Disciplinary Committee has the authority to impose penalties ranging from warnings to suspension for a period not exceeding one year or even dismissal in severe cases.
