Awareness Seminar on Sexual Reproductive Seminars

During the period under review, the Directorate of Students Services organized health seminars and events for students. Two Sexual Reproductive health seminars were conducted to educate students on critical health issues, mainly focusing on HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The first seminar, held on 16th October 2024, was attended by 336 students, while the second, conducted on 8th November 2024, was attended by 108 students. The facilitators for these sessions were Mr. Richard Minde (Assistant Nursing Officer), Ms. Paskazia Julius (Nurse), Grace Joseph (Nurse), Rehema Mgeni (Awareness Officer), Mr. Mussa Hamis (Clinical Officer), and Mr. Anueli Bagheto (Phlebotomist).

The topics covered in the seminars included:

  • How HIV is transmitted, its symptoms, and prevention methods.
  • Where to seek help if infected with HIV.
  • Family planning methods.
  • An overview of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including their meaning, causes, types, symptoms, and prevention strategies.
