Awareness Seminar on Substance Use and Disorders

During the third quarter, the Directorate of Students’ Services at Mbeya Campus organized an awareness seminar on Substance Use and Disorders for students. The seminar was held on 28^th March 2025. Mr Adrick Ndolwa DCEA facilitated the seminar, and the attendance was 450 students.

Among others, the seminar covered:

• Types of substances commonly used
• Severity levels of SUDs (mild, moderate, severe).
• Biological, psychological, and environmental factors contributing to SUDs.
• Signs and Symptoms of Substance Use Disorders:
• Impact of Substance Use and Disorders
• Methods used to diagnose substance use disorders
• Approaches to treating SUDs
• Prevention and Education
• Recovery and Relapse Prevention

By the end of the seminar, students can lead to a range of negative outcomes, including physical and mental health issues, strained relationships, and impaired daily functioning.
