During the period under review, the Directorate of Student Services at Mwanza Campus organized a seminar on counseling skills for peer educators. The seminar took place on 31st January 2025 and was facilitated by Mr. Justine Urio, Dean of Students at Mwanza Campus, and Ms. Marieta Mwendi, Senior Social Welfare Officer at Mwanza Campus. A total of 75 peer educators participated in the session. The seminar aimed to enhance the capacity of peer educators in providing effective support to fellow students.
Key topics covered included:
• Meaning of Guidance and Counseling – An overview of the concepts and their significance in supporting individual well-being.
• Types of Counseling – A discussion of various counseling approaches, including individual, group, and family counseling.
• Counseling Skills – Essential skills for effective counseling, such as active listening, empathy, communication, and problem-solving.
