Guest of Honor Speech - Mr. Elias Godson Kaombwe
The guest of honor at an academic conference held on 5 November 2025, at the College of Business Education (CBE), Mwanza Campus, Mr. Elias Godson Kaombwe, who is the Director of Kaombwe Insurance Agency and General Limited and also a graduate of the college, called on the CBE community to continue doing research and publishing studies that help solve challenges facing society. He said that useful research is the foundation of any college’s contribution to national development. Mr. Kaombwe also encouraged lecturers to provide business advice to citizens and different institutions in order to increase the college’s contribution to the business sector. He stressed the importance of cooperation between staff and academic lecturers, saying that joint efforts are what will help CBE grow and strengthen its international reputation.
In his speech, he urged CBE graduates to be good ambassadors of the college by putting into practice the knowledge and skills they gained during their studies. He said that graduates have a great opportunity to build and promote the image and name of CBE when they enter the job market and in their daily lives, thus helping the college remain a trusted and respected institution both nationally and internationally.

Governing Board Chairperson Speech - Prof. Zacharia Mganilwa
The Chairperson of the Governing Board of the College of Business Education (CBE), Prof. Zacharia Mganilwa, praised the decision to hold an academic conference at the Mwanza Campus and emphasized the importance of strong participation by CBE alumni. He said their involvement is a valuable opportunity to share experiences and strengthen academic discussions for the benefit of students and the industry as a whole.
Speaking at the academic conference today, 5 November, Prof. Mganilwa called for improvements in internship and mentorship programs by ensuring they are fully implemented in line with government guidelines. He also instructed the Rector of CBE to establish a Centre of Excellence at the Main Campus in Dar es Salaam for ICT programs as well as Metrology and Standardization, stressing that this move will help improve the quality of training and attract more students to join CBE.
Prof. Mganilwa assured the CBE community that the Governing Board will continue to closely oversee the college to ensure it grows stronger academically and remains a leading higher education institution in the country. He said the Board’s goal is to see CBE continue producing graduates who are skilled, competent, and competitive in the job market.

Rector of CBE Speech - Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga
The Rector of the College of Business Education (CBE), Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, speaking today, 5 November 2025, at the Mwanza Campus, emphasized the importance of graduates being good ambassadors after leaving the college. She urged them to continue upholding the values, skills, and discipline they developed during their studies. She said that the image they present in society will help strengthen the reputation of the college and encourage others to follow in their footsteps.
She also called on graduates and other students to continue enrolling in postgraduate (Master’s) programs offered through the online learning system, noting that this mode provides greater learning opportunities without affecting daily responsibilities. She added that CBE has improved the infrastructure for delivering these programs in order to reach more students.
Speaking at the academic conference, the Rector stressed that the forum is important for sharing ideas, experiences, and new knowledge that help improve academic quality. She encouraged all participants to make good use of the opportunity to build their capacity and contribute to the development of the institution and society as a whole.

COLLEGE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION (CBE) PRAISED FOR ITS ACHIEVEMENTS
The College of Business Education (CBE) has been praised for its major achievements in providing business education during the 60th CBE Graduation Ceremony and the 18th Graduation Ceremony of the Mwanza Campus, held today, 6 November 2025, at the Mwanza Campus. The Guest of Honor, Hon. Patrobas Paschal Katambi, Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, commended CBE for ranking 8th out of 47 higher learning institutions for two consecutive years, showing the college’s commitment to improving education and teaching systems. He also praised the college for building the capacity of 4,200 entrepreneurs and business people, as well as 2,068 bus conductors, saying that these trainings increase productivity and help bring them into the formal sector.
Hon. Patrobas further commended CBE for investing in both short-term and long-term training for its staff, and encouraged the college to continue focusing on emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics. He also praised efforts to improve infrastructure, including the renovation of the main conference hall at the Mwanza Campus, while stressing the importance of following procurement procedures and promising that the Government will continue allocating funds to improve the college’s infrastructure.
Speaking on academic programs, he praised the innovation of new programs that meet market needs, including the Business Administration Double Degree offered in collaboration with SWUFE (China), and the Bachelor of Digital Technologies Solutions Management with Apprenticeship offered in partnership with E-GA. He further thanked CBE for the increase in student enrollment to 23,111 nationwide and 2,181 at the Mwanza Campus, noting that these numbers show public trust in the college and emphasizing the need to continue providing high-quality services.

CBE PRAISED FOR PREPARING SKILLED PROFESSIONALS NEEDED IN TODAY’S WORLD
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Dr. Hashil Abdallah, has praised the College of Business Education (CBE) for the strong steps it is taking to prepare professionals with the skills needed in today’s world. Dr. Hashil made these remarks today, 6 November 2025, during the 60th CBE Graduation Ceremony and the 18th Graduation Ceremony of the Mwanza Campus, held at the Mwanza Campus grounds. He said that current global demands require professionals who can combine business knowledge, technological innovation, and the ability to solve economic challenges. He noted that through business incubation programs implemented by CBE, students gain practical skills in designing, developing, and managing businesses, a process that is fostering a new generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.
Furthermore, the Permanent Secretary commended the college for continuing to offer short-term training programs for entrepreneurs, especially youth and women. He explained that this initiative is important for economic empowerment and for enabling them to compete in a rapidly changing business market. He added that these efforts align with the government’s vision of building a competitive, knowledge-based economy that uses skills and expertise as key tools for development. CBE Governing Board Highlights Major Achievements
The Governing Board of the College of Business Education (CBE) has reported major achievements in strengthening good governance, transparency, and accountability. Speaking at the 60th CBE Graduation Ceremony and the 18th Graduation for the Mwanza Campus today, the Board Chairperson, Prof. Zacharia Mganilwa, said the Board has ensured that leadership systems operate with integrity for the benefit of the college and the nation. In terms of education quality, CBE has maintained 8th place out of 47 colleges for two consecutive years. This success is a result of strong management in improving teaching and research. A special budget has also been set aside to review and improve curricula so they match current job market needs.
On financial management, the Board has ensured efficient use of resources, enabling the college to receive clean audit reports every year, with spending focused on improving academic services. The Board has also strengthened cooperation with the Government, the private sector, and international organizations. This has increased resources, improved academic programs, and expanded opportunities for students.
In infrastructure development, major progress has been made at the Mwanza Campus. This includes the renovation of a conference hall worth TZS 2.6 billion, scheduled from January 2026 to June 2027, and the construction of a temporary fence, which is 43% complete and expected to be finished by February 2026. A historic milestone is the announcement of a new CBE Campus in Hai District, Kilimanjaro, funded by the World Bank under the HEET project (USD 10 million / TZS 26.4 billion). The campus will be a Center of Excellence in Business, Tourism, and Hospitality, and will be built on 15.64 acres of land provided by Shirinjoro village.

CBE Opens Doors of Opportunity: Rector Urges Enrollment in New Metrology and Double Degree Programs
The Rector of the College of Business Education (CBE), Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, has encouraged graduates and all Tanzanians to apply for a new Metrology and Standardization program. This program is offered only by CBE in Tanzania, East Africa, and Central Africa.
She made this call on 6 November 2025 during the 60th graduation ceremony of CBE and the 18th graduation of the Mwanza Campus, held at the CBE Mwanza grounds. Prof. Lwoga explained that the program is very important for industrial growth and global development because it produces experts in measurement, standards, and product quality.
Prof. Lwoga also said that CBE is the only college in Tanzania offering a Double Degree Program in partnership with Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) in China. Under this program, a student studies one year at CBE and another year in China. After graduation, the student receives two degree certificates—one from CBE and one from the Chinese university. She noted that this program helps graduates compete in the international job market and increases employment opportunities both inside and outside the country.
In addition, the Rector announced that CBE is expanding its services by opening a new campus in Hai District, Kilimanjaro Region, which will serve as a Center of Excellence in Tourism, Hotel Management, and Hospitality. She said this campus will support economic and social development in the Northern Zone and expand access to education that meets market needs and national goals.
Prof. Lwoga emphasized that CBE will continue to develop innovative programs and invest in technology to keep up with global changes.

Patrobas Katambi (MP), was presented with an award as a sign of appreciation for accepting the invitation to take part in the 60th CBE Graduation Ceremony and the 18th Graduation Ceremony of the Mwanza Campus, held in Mwanza City on 6 December 2025. The award was presented by the Chairperson of the College Governing Board, Prof. Zacharia Mganilwa, in the presence of the Rector of the College, Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga.
